What size are vacuum hoses?

Vacuum hoses tend to be anywhere between 3/16 inches in their inner diameter and 5/8 inches.

Does size of vacuum hose matter?

So if you want to pick up slightly larger debris and can give up a little on the effective suction area side, going to a smaller diameter hose makes sense. On the other hand, if you're collecting airborne particles like concrete dust, a larger hose that pulls in more air from a larger area makes more sense.

Is a bigger vacuum hose better?

Smaller diameter vacuum hoses are often more navigable and flexible, not to mention lighter, and for specific applications, there are performance benefits. Larger diameter hoses can pick up more significant debris, and with less possibility of clogging.

Can you replace a vacuum hose?

Fortunately, it is easy to repair a vacuum hose with this problem and the hose will only be a few centimeters shorter once repaired. In some cases, you wont need any new parts to complete the repair, but if you do they are readily available and much cheaper than a new hose.

How do I know what size hose I need?

The longer the hose, the more it weighs and the more storage space it will take up. For small yards, patios, and balconies, 25 feet should be enough. Larger yards may need 50 feet to reach the farthest corners. If you need to go past 50 feet, consider buying a 50-foot and a 25-foot, or two 50-foot hoses.

Does length of hose affect vacuum suction?

A smooth bore hose will lose less suction than one with internal corrugations. However, in using our vacuums in particular we have found that although adding length will slightly reduce suction per amount added. On our 1.5″ Crush-Proof yellow hose, we have found that adding 12.5′ of hose decreases the CFM by about 7%.

How do you measure vacuum hose diameter?
